Last week my daughter turned 3 years old. I still can’t believe she’s already 3, it feels like it was only yesterday when she was born!
My daughter said she wanted a Frozen themed birthday party so I spent hours on Pinterest looking for inspiration. I found some really great posts with activities and frozen themed foods so if you’re thinking of having a Frozen birthday check out my Pinterest board.
I wanted to give the kids something fun in their goodie bags and that’s when I came across a recipe to make silly putty from Paging Fun Moms. We tested it out a few weeks before her birthday and she loved it. It was one of the few activities we’ve done that have actually kept her busy for a long time. Not only that, but we still play with the silly putty every day – it holds up really well.
Since it was so easy to make I decided to make a giant bath (for 24 kids) and put it in their goodies bags.
All you need is:
Check out the instructions on how to make the silly putty here.
A few notes on the ingredients:
You can also use regular glue but you won’t be able to see through the putty and the glitter won’t be as visible.
When I made one batch I used Betty Crocker Classic Gel Food Colors. I used the entire tube and it made a really blue color. However, for her birthday I needed a lot more so I got this big bottle. It ended up being a lot more than I needed but cheaper than buying the Betty Crocker tubes.
I had my daughter helped me make the silly putty and she decided what color glitter we put in the mix, she added blue, silver, pink and gold. It came out really nice.
Since I had to do enough for 24 kids I used 12 bottles of glue – one bottle per every 2 kids. Once it was done I used my scale and put 200grams on small bags that I put inside their goodie bags.
This is so easy to make that your kid can make it and they will love being part of the process!
