A few weeks ago I found out I was invited to Good Morning Washington to do a segment on DIY products. I can’t tell you how excited this made me! I am just a mom that is very passionate about living a life free of toxic chemicals and it’s an honor to be able to share my passion with other people through this blog and now through this show.
My journey started when I found out I was pregnant with my first child, almost 5 years ago. It is shocking to learn everything that goes into some of the products we use in our daily lives and even more shocking that not even baby products are safe from this. This journey for me is an ongoing process, I am always learning and researching and trying to make the best decisions for my family.
If you’re just starting this journey I recommend you read my post Going Green and Toxic-free or How to Clear your House of Toxic Cleaning Products. I have also compiled a list of Green Resources where you can find important information.
On the show I shared how to make some of my favorite products. The great thing about making DIY products at home is that you know exactly what’s in them and you save a lot of money. A jar of cocoa butter, vinegar or castile soap makes tons of batches and last a long time. Plus all these recipes are really easy to make and most just take a few minutes.
Some of them, like the Lip Balm make great gifts for birthdays and Christmas and most of them are easy enough so that you can involve your kids in the process.
