A little while ago I found out I was picked, along with other awesome bloggers, to host a #DisneyKids play date in my home. Disney sent us a box with free supplies and activities for our play date and we had the freedom to organize it as we wished.
If you’re curious to see what we got, check out our unboxing video:
My game plan was to buy as many cute Disney themed decorations as I could, find healthy and organic Disney themed snacks (this was the most challenging part) and get lots of healthy food options. We like to keep most food party healthy but also with yummy treats. It doesn’t have to be all about junk food and sugar but also not just about veggies and fruits. It’s all about balance.
We love being outdoors and so do our kids, so we decided to host our party outdoors now that we’re in Spring with lovely weather. It was the perfect set up because the kids had enough space to run around and to get wet, plus the adults had lots of time to mingle.
Our party lasted about 4 hours and everyone had such a great time! I was really happy because although I didn’t have time to make the epic party I had planned on my mind, it turned out really good and everyone had a blast!
You don’t really need to make amazing snacks and elaborate activities like the ones you see on Pinterest. Don’t get me wrong, I wish I was that talented but the reality is that I am not. However, that didn’t stop me from hosting a fun Disney themed party and it shouldn’t stop you. There is a lot you can buy pre-made and lots of other things that are easy to put together and will make your party a success.
I’m going to share with you the behind the scenes from our party: where we got the decorations, what we had to eat, all the activities as well as what was in the goodie bags. Now you can recreate this fun #DisneyKids play date party for your little ones and their friends.
Decorations:
I had some decorations that came with the box that Disney sent us but that wasn’t enough for our space. I got all the decorations at the Dollar Store and at Target. They have many options and are all very affordable.
Food Menu:
Our Healthy #DisneyKids party had:
- Fruits
- Veggies for kids: carrots and tomatoes
- Guacamole and Hummus
- Grilled chicken and steak
- Grilled asparagus
- Salad
- Honest Kids juice pouches for the kids and beer for the grown-ups
- Ice Cream for dessert
- Healthy Snacks
For the healthy snacks I reached out to several of my favorite brands and asked them to send us snacks for our party. I was really excited that even some of them were Disney themed! These were the snacks we received:
Good Heath Natural Products:
They have Mickey Mouse shaped veggies chips! Need I say more? The kids devoured these and they were one of the favorite snacks at the party! If your kids love potato chips these are a much better alternative since they’re made from real veggies.
We also had their Organic Black Bean and Rice Tortillas which I’m now obsessed about – these chips are so tasty you don’t even need to dip them into anything.
You can find these snacks at Safeway, Kroger and Whole Foods, as well as national retailers such as Target, Walmart and Walgreens. For more information or to find a store near you visit their website.
Partners, A Tasteful Choice Company:
They are made-from-scratch gourmet crackers, cookies and brownie thins. PARTNERS Crackers, Free For All Kitchen, Blue Star Farms, Wisecrackers, All-American and Mia Dolci, are made with real, wholesome and honest ingredient.
We had their line of USDA Organic whole grain crackers, called Blue Star Farms. We paired these with hummus and guacamole. It was pretty tasty!
We also had the Free For All Kitchen brownie thins – they are gluten-free. The kids loved these so much several of them asked me if they could take them home and I’m actually eating some as I type this post!
PARTNERS’ family of brands are available in traditional and natural grocery stores nationwide, including Fred Meyer, Gelsons, Wegmans, Harris Teeter, Save Mart, Bristol Farms and more, as well as online at Amazon. To find a store near you, use their store locator.
Pure Growth Organic:
What I love the most about these snacks is that they’re organic, low in sugar and have Disney theme packaging. When I’m out shopping my kids are drawn to the pretty packaging and most of the time we can’t buy those snacks because they are not healthy. Pure Growth Organic has a huge line of awesome snacks for the kids so now your kids can have healthy and pretty looking snacks. Check them out here.
During the #DisneyKids play date we served the Apple Cinnamon Breakfast Biscuit Bites and the Chocolate Banana Breakfast Bars. We ran out of them before the party ended!
You can buy these snacks at Amazon and Walmart. Visit their website for more information.
Dessert:
I thought of making cupcakes but then I came across this ice cream at Costco and I realized it was the perfect “island” ice cream. We now call it Moana ice cream and it was so tasty! Perfect for hot Spring day.
Party Activities:
No party or play date is fun without activities! We had all sorts of activities planned, from activity station to a water balloon fight.
Stations:
We set up kid-sized tables with different activities:
Make Your Own Sorcerer’s Hat:
We had lots of party hats and stickers. The kids were able to decorate these hats as they pleased and pretend to be Fantasia’s Mickey!
Fortune Tellers:
We also had a table set up with a lot of Disney themed fortune tellers along with instructions on how to make them. The kids had lots of fun with these – my 4 year old is still playing with hers a week later!
Coloring Table:
I set up a table with Disney coloring pages along with crayons and markers and let the kids get creative.
Bubbles Table:
I found a bubble dispenser at Target and thought it would be great for the party. It came with little cups and lots of bubble wands. All we did was set it up all at the table and let the kids have fun with it.
Other Activities:
Hidden Mickey Hunt:
We printed out 10 small Mickeys and taped them all over our yard. The kids got a card where they could mark every time they saw one. Once they discovered all 10, they exchanged it for their goodie bag at the end of the party.
Most of the kids that came were about 4 years old and they were a little too distracted to follow through so I would suggest if you try this, you make during a specific time slot.
Little Tikes Jump ‘n Slide Bouncer
I bought this bouncy house in December and it has been one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The kids love bouncing on it so we just kept it blown up during the entire play date.
Water Table:
Water Tables are kid-magnets! We set up out water table on the yard and added little ocean toys for the kids to play and explore. We recently got the one you see pictured but there are plenty other fun options.
Water Balloon Fun
It was an usually hot day so I’m glad I had planned a water balloon fight. I had about 8 sets of these balloons. What I love about them is that you connect them to a hose and they get filled with water in just a few seconds. Then you wiggle them off and they’re ready to use. No more making knots or filling up balloons one by one!
Pool time:
We weren’t planning of having pool time but the kids were loving the water balloons so much we took out our new inflatable pool and let them have fun with it. They had a blast!
Goodie Bags:
No party is complete without goodie bags. I wanted the kids to have something Disney plus something crafty. I found all of these Toys at the Target $1 and $3 section!
Overall we had a fantastic time and we’re already looking forward to our next get together with our friends!
