One of my favorite cleansing products has always been body scrubs. After I use them they make my skin feel so soft and smooth. Plus it makes me feel really clean.
There’s nothing like feeling clean. It makes me feel like a new person.
Now that I’m a mom I have to confess that I don’t shower daily (and I hope this doesn’t scare my friends away if they’re reading this post). I try to shower daily but with 2 kids it’s been challenging. It is starting to get easier now that my baby is bigger but a few months ago I was lucky if it got to shower.
So now I treat showers not only as a must but as a luxury. A long shower or a good soak in my tub makes me feel {almost} like I’m at a spa.
One of the things I enjoy the most is using a body scrub because it makes me feel like new – refreshed and clean. I really love the feeling of scrubbing away all the dirt so I try to using a body scrub at least once a week.
Sugar is a great natural ingredient to use in a body scrub. It’s not only affordable but it’s so easy to prepare a sugar based body scrub that anybody can make it. You can even have your kids help you make it!
This recipe is very flexible so you can even use different scents or dried flowers and herbs if you prefer. I chose lavender and cedarwood because of it’s properties.
What are the benefits of lavender?
Lavender is known for it’s calming and relaxing properties, so I couldn’t think of anything better to use during a relaxing shower. You can learn more about the amazing properties of lavender here.
What are the benefits of cedarwood essential oil?
Cedarwood is known for promoting a clear and healthy skin so I thought it was a great essential oil to add to this body scrub. You can learn all about cedarwood properties here.

This recipe also makes a great gift. I like to put it in a mason jar and give it to a friend. If it’s for a special occasion I make several of my natural body products and put them in a homemade gift basket.
