I was recently approached by KinderGlo to try out one of their nightlights. After learning more about their product and seeing the adorable designs I couldn’t resist – we decided to try it out.
The first thing I had to know before I accepted this nightlight was if this product is non-toxic because it would be something that my kids would hold close to them and that the baby might end up chewing. I’m happy to inform that the KinderGlo nightlight is made with materials that are phthalate, BPA & lead free.
I asked them more about their testing and materials used in making these nightlights and this is what they told me:
The products are tested and all components, assemblies and packaging are produced in accordance with the CPSIA in the US as well as with the RoHS Directive and WEEE Directive in the EU, which prohibit the use of toxic materials. The plastic they are made of is a compound similar to what you would find in a Barbie doll, a mixture of vinyl and polyvinyl.
One aspect I really liked about this night light is that it uses LED bulbs for more efficient lighting with less energy consumption, and they are rechargeable. It comes with a charging doc and the actual nightlight can be carried anywhere, no cables attached. I really like this feature because this way I can keep charging doc out of my kid’s reach (my baby loves chewing cables hence why we try to keep them all away from her) and we can take the nightlight with us if we decide to go to the potty when it’s dark.
The nightlight lasts 8-10 hours on a single charge but we use the timer that automatically turns off the lamp after 30 mins, which means we haven’t had to charge it often. You also have the option to leave it on all night long if you have a kid what wakes up a lot.
The nightlight is all white when it’s off. Once it’s on you can set it up to continuously change color or have it in one color: red, blue or green.
I’ve found the red light to be really helpful for middle of the night feedings for the baby.
My 3 year old loves this lamp and takes it to bed every night. She even started falling asleep on her own, alone in her bedroom, thanks to this nightlight. She takes it to her bed and snuggles with it until she falls asleep. She’s never fallen asleep on her own before so this nightlight is definitively a keeper.
Our 11 month old loves it too and I think we will be getting one for her soon because she keeps taking it away from big sister. But by far my favorite feature is that it’s non-toxic and I don’t have to worry about my kids playing with it and falling asleep while holding it.
The folks are KinderGlo were kind enough to let me host a giveaway of one of their nightlights so one lucky winner will get one to win one!
