I recently discovered Happy Yogis Organic Yogurt Snacks and got them for my toddler – she loved them. I am not a fan of giving her food that I have not prepared so it was time to find a way to make these yogurt snacks for her.
I read several recipes online and decided to give it a try. I couldn’t remember the exact recipe so I made a several attempts and now I’m sharing my recipe with you. They turned out great and most important, my daughter loves them!
Yogurt Melts Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of Organic Greek Yogurt (I buy the most fatty one, at least 2% and preferably whole)
- Organic Fruit (I use about 1/4 cup but you can adjust the amount according to your preference)
- Organic raw honey (optional)
I made this batch with strawberries and used 4 strawberries in 1/2 cup of yogurt but you can make them with any fruit your kid likes or by combining fruits. You won’t need large quantities of fruit and you can make it to your taste. The more fruit you add, the sweeter the yogurt melts turn out but you can always add honey if you like it sweeter.
Directions:
Put the fruit in the food processor.
Once you have a purée consistency, mix them with the yogurt.
Beware, the first time I did it I put the yogurt in the food processor and just ended up with liquid yogurt. To avoid this, you have to mix the fruit purée and yogurt with a spoon.
Once it’s evenly mixed, taste it to make sure you like it.
Now you have to put the mixture in a baking dish or parchment paper and freeze it. You can either use a spoon, an icing bag with a round tip or just a regular plastic bag with a small hole in the corner. I have this cake decorating set so that’s what I used.
Make little dots on the parchment paper, about the size of a dime. I made some a little bigger and other a little smaller just to have different sizes. Once you’ve used the entire mix, put it in your freezer.
It will be ready in about 30mins, depending on how cold it’s your freezer. Once the yogurt dots are hard, it’s ready.
To save space on your freezer, transfer it to a smaller container and store it in the freezer.
This is a great snack for babies and toddlers and a favorite in our home! I love how you can make it with different fruits and have all sorts of flavors. The only bad part is that you can’t take it when you go out because it will melt but otherwise it’s perfect. Let me know if your little one likes it!
