Ingredients

  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • Orange peels from 2 medium oranges
  • 8 drops of Lemon essential oil
  • 8 ounce Mason jar or any other glass jar to store

Instructions

  1. Add 3/4 cup of white vinegar to the mason jar.
  2. Add in 4-8 drops of Lemon Essential Oil to the vinegar and mix it up. Then add the orange peel.
  3. You want to fill up the jar with orange peels. If the liquid doesn’t reach all the way to the top, you can add a little extra vinegar.
  4. Screw the lid back on and let sit for 24 hours.
  5. The next day pour the contents of your jar into your garbage disposal. While you’re doing that, run your garbage disposal with warm water (avoid hot water with your garbage disposal as it can cause clogs).
  6. Once the grinding is complete, turn off your disposal and let the water run for at least 15 seconds to flush out any remaining particles.
  7. Optional: rinse with a mixture of 2 tablespoons baking soda mixed in 1 cup warm water. This is not necessary but will do some additional scrubbing if needed.

  8. There you have it – a nice and clean garbage disposal that it’s not stinky!
