A shower is a time when you can relax, enjoy the hot water running over you, and take a few minutes to just breathe and be… Unless you have kids! Somehow when mom is in the shower, the bathroom can sometimes become a free-for-all, question-filled, splash pad. I know my kids aren’t the only ones to come barging into the bathroom when what I really desire is a little bit of privacy!
As a mom, I think it becomes even more important to have those moments to yourself to relax and unwind. I love unwinding with DIY body products designed to pamper and soothe, like these Honey Lavender Shower Jellies. And the best part is that the kids love them too!
Why are these jellies great for someone looking to take a few minutes to relax, unwind, and regroup?
The main ingredient in these jellies is collagen, which is amazing for your skin. In fact, you should be ingesting collagen along with using these jellies. Collagen is known to improve the elasticity of your skin, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, helps treat different skin conditions and it helps prevent cellulite.
The lavender essential oil in these jellies is the real soothing and relaxing agent; plus lavender just smells so good! This oil is known to relieve tension and emotional stress, so it can be helpful in calming nerve and anxiety issues. In addition, it enhances blood circulation. This means that your organs and muscles receive better oxygenation, thus promoting muscle strength and health, and your brain gets a boost as well. Lavender helps induce sleep, so these jellies are great to use right before bed.
The raw honey is a great source of antioxidants and also have antibacterial and antifungal properties. Plus, it’s very nourishing for your skin and it also smells great!
How to use shower jellies?
Shower jellies are just like a soap bar – you can rub them all over your body and then rinse your skin. You can crush them on a loofah or sponge and then wash your body with the sponge.
You can also freeze them and rub them all over your skin on a hot summer day. It feels really cooling!
We keep our jellies in the fridge and just take one out before taking a shower.

How to Make Honey Lavender Shower Jellies
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of gelatin (or 1 package unflavored gelatin)
- 1/2 cup unscented castile soap
- 1 tsp raw honey
- 3/4 cup cold water
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
- Natural food coloring or soap coloring (optional)
- Silicone mold
Instructions:
Begin by adding cup of water into a pot and heating it up. You don’t want the water to be boiling but warm enough to dissolve the gelatin.
Once the water is warm, add the gelatin and continue stirring until the gelatin has completely melted.
Remove the pot from the heat and then add in your castile soap and honey. Mix well.
Measure 10 drops of lavender essential oil into the pot and mix again.
Slowly pour the mixture from the pot into the silicone molds until they are almost full.
If there are bubbles on the top of the mixture in your filled molds, spray lightly with rubbing alcohol and they should go away.
If desired, you can add a drop or two of soap colorant or food coloring to each mold and use a candy stick or toothpick to stir the mixture until the color is combined well.
Place your molds in the freezer for 15 minutes and then move them to the refrigerator for 3 hours to finish solidifying.
Remove the shower jellies from the mold and store them in an airtight container in the fridge until you are ready to use.
Caution: These can look like candy, particularly to children. Keep them stored away from small children.
Now enjoy a relaxing shower or bath with these fun and lovely scented jellies!
