I’m so excited that you’re here and want to learn how to make your own DIY products. Did you know that most people come in contact with over 150 toxic chemicals before they leave their homes? Most of these chemicals are in the body products they use every morning, like soaps, lotions and toothpaste.
One of the biggest concerns when it comes to skin care products is that a lot of them contains endocrine disruptors. These are chemicals that mimic the hormones in your body, altering with the functions of your hormonal system causing an adverse effect. Endocrine disruptors have been linked to malformations, reproductive issues, cancer, amongst other issues. If you’re looking to minimize your family’s exposure to endocrine disruptors, check out the 12 worst ones according to the Environmental Working Group and how to avoid them.
The easiest way to avoid toxic chemicals is by making your products but there are now options out there that are safer and cleaner, check out our favorite ones here or use the Cosmetics Database or the Think Dirty app to find out if what you’re using can be harmful to your health.
Making your own DIY products is not as hard as you think and it’s a great way to know exactly what you’re putting in your body and skin. Plus it is the most affordable option – a big batch of organic ingredients will last you a long a time and you’ll be able to make lots of products with them.
