I always saw breastfeeding as something natural. I didn’t think much about it before I became a mom but the day my daughter was born I became a nursing mom, a pro-breastfeeding mom and my views on breastfeeding changed. Any mom has the right to chose what’s best for their child, for me, it was breastfeeding.
My daughter is currently 18 months old and we’re still nursing and going strong. It wasn’t an easy journey but it wasn’t hard enough to make me stop.
I’ve come to learn about challenges in nursing, that I didn’t even know existed. I’ve met women with lots of nursing challenges that made it and were able to nurse their kids and some other that had to turn to formula. I’ve heard nasty comments of people saying you shouldn’t nurse in public and seen moms proudly nurse in public. Once you’re a nursing mom, you learn about all the good and bad stuff that comes with breastfeeding.
During this World Breastfeeding week I don’t want to give any advice or tell a mom what’s best or how to do it or what to expect I just want to say
thank you! Thank you, nursing mom, for nursing!
It’s because of you, nursing mom…
It’s because of you nursing your child anywhere that future moms, like myself, see breastfeeding as something normal.
It’s because of you that I was able to swallow my shyness and nurse my daughter without a cover because she hated it.
It’s because of your blog posts that I learned about nursing challenges and how to overcome them.
It’s because of your videos that I learned how to latch my daughter properly and hold her while she nursed.
It’s because of your videos and patience that I learned how to nurse in a baby carrier.
It’s because of you that I learned that my child’s nutrition is more important than what other people think about me nursing.
It’s because of you that I became informed about the benefits of nursing.
It’s because of you that my confidence grew and I am a proud breastfeeding mom of a toddler.
It’s because of you that I learned to trust my body and trust that I can make enough milk for my child.
It’s because of you that I had someone to share my toughest breastfeeding moments with.
It’s because of you that I will nurse all of my children.
It’s because of you that I see beauty when I see a nursing mom.
It’s because of you that I will always support breastfeeding and help any mom that comes to me.
It’s because of you that I am a nursing mom and proud of it.
So thank you, thank you to you, nursing mom. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for you.

Love this, so sweet! I have to credit all the other moms that I’ve met and all of their posts that they’ve written for everything I have found out on my mothering journey 🙂

That is so true Jess!! It’s not only about breastfeeding, it’s about motherhood. Meeting like-minded moms has made my life so much better and has helped me become a better mom.
