Essential Oil Matcha Green Tea Sugar Scrub Soap Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup clear glycerin soap base
- ½ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup shea butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- 10-15 drops cedarwood essential oil
- 10-15 drops geranium essential oil
- 10-15 drops bergamot essential oil
- 1-2 tablespoons of Matcha Green Tea powder
- Soap mold
Instructions:
For these first steps, you can use the microwave or the double-boiler method. I prefer the double-boiler method.
To use the double-boiler method, place a pot of water on your stove over medium heat. Cut up your soap base and place it in a large, glass mason jar or a glass bowl that will fit into your pot. Set it in your pot of water. Stir the soap base until it is completely melted.
Add the coconut oil and shea butter to the melted soap base. Stir until both have melted and everything is completely combined.
If you are using the microwave, cut up and add the soap base to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds and then stir. Repeat until it is completely melted. Add the coconut oil and shea butter to your bowl and stir until both have melted completely. Microwave for 15 second increments if necessary until everything is melted.
Remove your jar or bowl from the heat and continue by adding in your essential oils.
Measure the matcha tea powder into your bowl and stir until it is well incorporated into the other ingredients.
.
Add the sugar and mix until a thick paste is formed.
Press this mixture firmly into your soap mold and allow it to set for at least two hours. I usually let mine cool and set for 24.
Store in an airtight container until you are ready to use. If you live in very hot climate, it’s best to store the extra scrub pieces in the refrigerator. Enjoy!
