My baby never took a bottle but I knew some day she would take a sippy.
About a month or two ago we gave her a sippy for the first time. She thought it was an interesting toy but didn’t really drank out of it. After trying out with different kinds of sippy cups I tried a straw cup. Immediately she loved it and to my surprise figure out pretty quick how to drink from a straw.
All I had was a Green Sprouts straw cup and even though this is considered one of the safer brands I wanted a cup that wasn’t made out of plastic. This is when my friend introduced me to the The Safe Sippy 2.
It is exactly what I was looking for. It’s made out of stainless steal and it’s toxic-free!
It comes with a sippy and straw adapter so you can use whichever option your baby prefers.
My baby loves to chew the bottom part of all cups so a sippy that didn’t leak was a must. This one passsed the test! It’s upside down most of the time and doesn’t leak.
I love that it has removable handles. She is now using them but I’m sure there will come a day when she won’t use them and I won’t have to buy a new cup.
It’s a bit pricey but most toxic-free cups are in this range and I think it’s worth the price.
We do use every now and then a Zo-li Bot Straw Sippy Cup, which is also BPA and Phthalate free.
But the safe sippy is my favorite by far. Update: We only use stainless steel or glass products now. Read here about it.
Oh! And if you have a toddler that loves sports bottles you can get her the Safe Sporter Bottle. I’ll be getting this for sure once she’s older.
If you’re looking for a sippy and straw cup made without toxic materials I strongly recommend the The Safe Sippy 2. You won’t regret it!
By the way, make sure you get the The Safe Sippy 2 because the regular Safe Sippy doesn’t come with the straw attachment.
More information on the Sippy Cup 2 from the manufacturer:
The safe sippy 2 toddler cup is the world’s first and only 2-in-1 sippy to straw bottle. Made from clean, non-leaching, stainless steel. The cup is tested free of BPA, phthalates and other harmful chemicals.
The safe sippy 2 combines all the great features of the original safe sippy, plus three new features that parents asked for most: a no spill valve plus straw and straw adaptor, a travel cap to keep the spout clean, and a travel plug to protect from any drips while out and about.
The safe sippy 2 holds 11 ounce, has a straw shaped spout which is better for developing mouths, a colorful protective sleeve that provides insulation against cold liquids while protecting the cup from being dented and removable handles. The safe sippy 2 is dishwasher safe.

It does feel very durable. Ours has been thrown to the ground many times and still looks like new. 🙂
