As moms we often have limited time to pamper ourselves or even engage in self care. Our days tend to revolve around taking care of our families and our children and we often put ourselves last. But self care and pampering doesn’t need to be time consuming or super involved.
Sometimes it’s just taking a few extra minutes to yourself while you’re in the shower or bath to relax and do something nice for yourself! You are worthy of those few minutes and taking care of yourself will mean you can take care of your family better.
Personally I love scrubs! After I use a scrub I feel refreshed, invigorated, and pampered, even if it only took a few minutes. Scrubs help to exfoliate your skin, revealing fresh skin and sloughing off the old. Don’t you just feel so great after a good scrub?
These Rose and Jasmine Exfoliating Sugar Cubes are fabulous for a quick bit of indulgence! Plus, they’re simple enough to make with your kids – so you can turn this into a fun activity, which ends with you exfoliating when the kids are in bed. 🙂
About the ingredients…
The sugar cubes have ingredients that will moisture your skin, while exfoliating it.
Coconut oil is amazingly beneficial for the skin. It’s great at hydrating and decreasing water loss in dry skin. It is also naturally antibacterial and anti-fungal.
Shea butter is also highly moisturizing and great for the skin. It’s nourishing and even anti-inflammatory. It contains a compound called lupeol cinnamate, which was discovered to reduce skin inflammation and may be beneficial for anyone with acne.
Rose essential oil also helps to hydrate skin and fight acne. Jasmine essential oil is another oil that is great for skin hydration and can help to make your skin look luminous and healthy.
The sugar makes an awesome natural exfoliant and will help remove dead skin cells. Sugar is also a humectant, which means it will help draw moisture into the skin to help keep it hydrated.

Rose and Jasmine Exfoliating Sugar Cubes
Ingredients:
- Your favorite silicone cube mold (I use this one)
- ½ cup shea butter, shredded
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 drops Vitamin E oil
- 12 drops rose absolute essential oil
- 10 drops jasmine essential oil
- 2-3 drops pink colorant (optional)
Directions:
For these first steps, you can use the microwave or the double-boiler method. I personally prefer the double-boiler method.
To use the double-boiler method, place a pot of water on your stove over medium heat. Place your shea butter and coconut oil in a large, glass mason jar or a glass bowl that will fit your pot and set it in your pot. Stir the soap base until both are completely melted and combined.
If you are using the microwave, add the shea butter and coconut oil to a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds or until melted. All microwaves are different so you may have to continue microwaving in 15 second increments until completely melted.
Remove from the heat and add the Vitamin E oil and essential oils.
Stir well to distribute the oils
Add the pink colorant (this is optional, you can choose not to color your sugar cubes or choose another color) and stir again until your desired shade of pink is achieved.
Mix in the sugar and stir until incorporated.
Sprinkle sugar into the bottom of each cube mold.
Transfer the sugar mixture into each mold, pressing down firmly. Chill for two hours.
Remove from the refrigerator and store in an airtight container for up to six months.
To use: Bring the cube in the shower or bath and when you’re ready to use it, crush it in your hands. Massage the scrub mixture onto your wet skin in a circular motion. Enjoy the sweet aromas of rose and jasmine.
Rinse with warm water water and pat dry with a towel.
Enjoy!
