Does your guy have a skin care routine? Sometimes men can neglect caring for their skin but nice, healthy skin is something that looks good on everyone, not just women!
An easy way for men to help keep their skin healthy is by adding an after shave into their routine. But you want to make sure they use an after shave that is going to hydrate their skin and help keep it looking great! Since they have to use this after they shave, it will add very little time to their routine but could have massive benefits, particularly if they struggle with any skin issues.
Making this DIY After Shave Spray is easy and by making it yourself, you can control what ingredients are going into it and avoid any chemicals that would be too harsh for your guy’s skin. I make this for my husband since he’s not into making his own products, yet he loves it when I make them. **wink**
What makes this After Shave work so well? It is full of amazing skin-boosting ingredients.
Witch hazel is great for the skin because it is a strong antioxidant and astringent. It can help fight acne, nourish dry skin, and help to heal cuts and bruises. Because witch hazel is a anti inflammatory, it can help soothe and prevent razor burn – making it a perfect addition to an after shave spray!
Witch hazel can also help to minimize damage from sun exposure and fight aging by protecting skin’s elasticity and collagen. This is especially true when combined with an oil like frankincense.
Aloe vera is a fantastic natural moisturizer and can help heal acne by assisting wound healing. It also has anti inflammatory property that help to decrease inflammation. In addition to being so soothing, aloe vera contains loads of antioxidants like vitamin C and beta carotene that help to hydrate and firm the skin.
I remember when I was a kid, my grandma would “solve” every problem with aloe vera and now that I researched more about it – I understand why. Aloe vera is just one of those things you should always have at home!
Jojoba oil is just one of those amazing oils for the skin! It is an emollient, and it soothes the skin and unclogs hair follicles. It is also great to use before and after you shave because it helps to moisturize your skin and heal cuts quickly. Jojoba oil contains iodine, which fights the harmful bacteria that leads to breakouts. It also contains antioxidants which naturally help with aging.
Frankincense essential oil is an amazing oil for the skin because of its antiseptic and disinfectant properties. I first heard about it years ago when my best friend started using it on her face regularly and saw big improvements. It can also help to make your skin stronger and even improve skin tone. Frankincense helps relieve inflammation as well.

Ingredients:
- 1 ounce spray bottle or glass jar
- 1 tablespoon alcohol-free witch hazel
- 1 tablespoon aloe vera spray or gel (I prefer the spray because it easier to mix in all the ingredients)
- 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil or fractionated coconut oil
- 3-4 drops of cedarwood or frankincense frereana essential oil (optional)
Directions:
Prepare your spray bottle by inserting a small funnel in the top. If you’re going to keep the mixture in a small glass, add the ingredients to the glass jar instead.
In a small glass bowl, mix together the witch hazel and aloe vera gel/spray until they are completely combined.
Add in the jojoba oil or fractionated coconut oil. Then add 3 drops of the essential oils – you can use one type or combine both. Combine the ingredients together in one bowl and stir until completely mixed. Poor the mixture into your spray bottle.
Spray once to make sure it has the right scent you want. If you want it stronger, you can add an additional 1-3 drops. I personally have found 4 drops to be the perfect amount.
To use: Shake the bottle well and spray directly on the face after shaving. You can also store the solution in a 4 ounce glass jar and pat the aftershave on with clean fingers. My husband prefers the spray bottle so that’s what we use at home.
If you make this shave spray, let me know if your husband loves it as much as mine!
