When I had my daughter I used to wear her in a Ergobaby all the time. This meant that anywhere we went, the Ergobaby came with us. However, I didn’t know that you could fold soft structure carriers, like the Ergo, so they become really compact and portable so I ended carrying this spread open carrier with straps that got into everything. It was pretty annoying.
About a year later I figured out how to fold these carriers so they can fit in your diaper bag (if you have a big one) or so that you can strap them on your bag. This method works for all soft structure carriers, also known as buckle carriers. I currently don’t own an Ergo anymore because I like other brands better, Kinderpack, Madame Goo Goo, Lenny Lamb and Tula. I’ve tried this method of folding down a carrier in each of these brands and the result is the same so if you have one of these type of carriers, try this! It won’t take even a minute.
How to fold a soft structure carrier
Place your carrier on a clean floor or table, put the inner part of the carrier is facing you.
Tuck the hood (if it has one) towards the inner fabric of the carrier and fold the shoulder straps in half.
Fold the shoulder straps towards the inner part of the carrier. Make sure the straps are inside the upper part of the body panel and lying on top of each other.
Now roll your carrier towards the waist band.
Once it’s all rolled buckle the waist band and tighten the waist band strap to make sure it doesn’t come undone.
Now you’re ready to go!
If you end up strapping it on your diaper bag, just unbuckle the waist strap, put it around your diaper bag strap and buckle again.
