When I met my husband, I didn’t know he was a snorer but soon after we spent our first night together I realized not only that he was a snorer but that he was one of the really loud ones.
At first, I didn’t think it would matter. Yes, he woke me up every night but I would kick him, tell him to move over and the snoring would stop long enough for me to fall back asleep again. This happened several times at night, every night, but I somehow learned how to live with it.
In fact, I remember one of the first trips we took we my parents. We got the biggest and nicest room in the house we rented because it was the one furthest from everyone. No one wanted to be near us at night because they had heard my husband snoring in another occasion. We joked about it and I even recorded him many times because the sounds he would make were unbelievable.
Honestly, sometimes I couldn’t believe how loud he was snoring. It started to be less funny and more annoying. I was also worried about him but we had tried so many things and nothing worked.
Then we had our first child and I was up almost every hour, between a newborn and the snoring I was completely sleep deprived and losing my mind. Sometimes the snoring wasn’t too bad and other times I wanted to kick my husband out of our room just so I could sleep longer.
Eventually my toddler started sleeping through the night but I wasn’t. The snoring kept waking me up and I was getting desperate. I need quality sleep.
So, what causes snoring?
Snoring is very common and it often has more than one cause. Underlying causes of snoring can be difficult to diagnose and may relate to deformities of the nasal septum (the cartilage between the two sides of the nose) and the other internal nasal structures.
Snoring may also be caused by blockages in the nose due to nasal allergies or colds or can result from the use of medication or alcohol. It is not uncommon for women to snore during pregnancy. (Source)
During our search to find a cure to snoring we found out my husband had a deviated septum. We scheduled a corrective surgery and the doctors said this surgery would correct the snoring. I can’t tell you how happy I was! My husband could immediately feel a difference in his breathing after the surgery and felt he was breathing in more air.
But soon after the surgery we realized it didn’t work for him – he was still snoring! It was just as loud as before and when family or friends stayed with us they would always ask me how I got any sleep. The truth is, I got sleep but very broken up sleep. And I lost hope.
Sleeping in separate rooms was not an option so I surrendered to the idea that I would not sleep through the night again. I know it sounds crazy but I love that man and snoring was part of the package.
Then one day, Mute reached out to me asking if I would try their product that could help with my husband’s snoring. I am not going to lie, I was so skeptical. After all we had tried many other products and he had surgery to correct this problem and none of that worked, but I agree to try it out because I figured I had nothing to lose.
And to our surprise it worked!!
After 7 years of waking up every night due to my husband’s snoring, I started sleeping through the night because he stopped snoring! I am not sure if his snoring got quieter or if it stopped all together but all that mattered is that his snoring wasn’t waking me up anymore.
If you live with someone that snores, you can understand how excited I was to wake up the next day and realize that I had sleep the whole night. I didn’t realize how sleep deprived I was until I started sleeping through the night again. So, naturally I just had to partner with Mute for this post and share with you this amazing product.
What is Mute?
Mute is a tiny device that you insert in your nose. It opens up your nose, allowing more air to flow in. In fact, their clinical trial showed airflow increased by an average of 38% and their user trial showed 78% of users could breathe better at night.
This tiny device is what got my husband to stop snoring at night.
The best part is that it’s super easy to use. All you have to go is adjust it to fit your nose properly, insert it in the tip of your nose and go to sleep.
After my husband had such success with it, I decided to try it too. I don’t snore but wanted to see if I could feel a difference and I did! When you’re wearing Mute you really feel you’re breathing in a lot more air and just breathing so much more easily than you usually do because it expands the airways.
Mute comes in 3 sizes: small, medium or large and you need to make sure you get the right size for your nose. I recommend you try their trial pack first which comes with all 3 sizes or you can download their sizing chart here.
Check out this video to see how easy it is to use:
I recommend that if you’re trying Mute for the first time you wear it for half an hour or so before bed so you can make sure you have the right fit. If you can’t feel it, then you know it’s the right fit and if you can, adjusting it is very simple, just like you can see on the video.
Also, keep in mind that each package comes with 3 Mutes, which is a month’s supply. Because Mute is in your nose and there is so much bacteria there, they recommend you replacing Mute after 10 days of use.
Snoring was ruining my relationship
Yes, it really was. I would never leave my husband over snoring but I would wake up very angry many times because I just wanted to sleep.
I really wish I had known about Mute before the surgery! It could have saved us years of sleep deprivation and money. This is why I had to share with you because if you’re dealing with this same problem, you may want to try Mute first. It is an affordable, easy, and non-invasive way to correct this problem. You have nothing to lose by trying it and you have everything to win if it does work for you or your partner.
Quality of sleep is important for your health. Our bodies regenerate and repair during our sleep and if we don’t sleep enough our body just doesn’t have time to go through all these important processes. In fact, humans can go longer without food than then can go without sleep – that’s how important sleep is.
Instead of sacrificing your quality of sleep and quality of life, try this tiny product that has changed our lives!
